4 Tips for Embracing Your Gifts

You have gifts, lots of them. If life has beaten you down, you may be having a hard time acknowledging some of them. Others may be locked away somewhere deep within your memory bank.

4 Tips for Embracing Your Gifts

Why don’t you dust off your talents and abilities and put them to work? Sure, the world might get by without your magnificence, but why should it? Your gifts may not set the world on fire (but then, they might), but they would set even one other person’s world on fire. That is what makes your efforts worthwhile.

Check out these Four Tips for Embracing Your Gifts, so you don’t miss out on becoming all you’re capable of becoming:

1. Develop what you’ve got. We often spend more time wishing we had different talents and abilities than we spend developing what we’ve got. If I could do anything, I would be a singer, but I don’t have that gift. Had I started very young, I might be a decent singer, but I would never have been good at it and certainly not great. It would be best if you focused your energy on elevating what you’ve got, rather than wasting time wishing for what you do not.

2. Don’t compare to others. Comparison is the thief of joy and so much more. We are all tempted to compare ourselves to others, but when it comes to our gifts, it is not a great idea. Even if yours are similar to another person’s, your unique perspective and experience are different. Avoid the comparison trap, or you may never realize your amazing qualities.

3. Remember, nobody’s perfect. When all hell breaks loose, it is natural to stare at the incident with a myopic viewpoint. Try to consider that whatever is happening might be a part of a larger picture that you can’t see at present. Be open to perspective that you can only gain through trials.

4. Stay in your lane. You might find yourself to fit into another person’s mold. You are one-of-a-kind. Even more challenging than putting a round peg into a square hole, you could never fit into a mold made for someone else, no more than they could fit into yours.

Don’t keep the incredible, extraordinary you hidden. The world needs what you’ve got.
